Clarity on Unions
Leave it to Dr. Sowell to clearly define the underlying reality of unions:
The most fundamental fact about labor unions is that they do not create any wealth. They are one of a growing number of institutions which specialize in siphoning off wealth created by others, whether those others are businesses or the taxpayers.
In particular, read his article for the unintended consequences of unions as observed in the history of coal miners. Another set of facts the MSM won’t tell you.
As John Hawkins aptly notes, there was a time that unions had a very real and good purpose. But in most cases they have achieved their goal of addressing unfair labor management practices and yet refuse to leave, particularly those in the public sector (i.e., government).
Facts can be annoying things when they contradict your agenda, but facts define reality. The facts about today’s unions aren’t pretty.
